GLASGOW, Scotland. October 8 (PSN) – Robert Lewandowski netted a injury-time equalizer at Hampden Park to keep Poland’s UEFA EURO 2016 hopes alive whilst killing off Scotland’s.
Final Score: Scotland – Poland 2:2
Matt Richie and Steven Fletcher scored the two goals for Scotland which gave the away side tremendous pressure to respond.
Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski scored early in the match already in the 3rd minute and later at the end in stoppage-time for the draw.
For Lewandowski this was the second time scoring in a match against the Scots, but extremely important for the fate of Poland’s national team qualifying.
Had the Bialo-czerwoni not leveled then in the last match against Republic of Ireland to qualify, Poland would have had to win at all costs. Now, instead, a draw is enough for qualification.
The road to France for the finals of the 2016 UEFA EURO Championship is still very much open. Poland cannot risk missing out and must not squander this opportunity. But if they have someone as composed someone such as “Lewy” than Polish fans should sleep peacefully.
Adam Nawalka’s team play the Republic of Ireland in their last qualifying game on Sunday in Warsaw.
