WARSAW, Poland. June 11 (PSN) – Kamil Glik will be able to join his teammates and play at the 2018 FIFA World Cup this summer in Russia.
The breaking news comes straight from France, where AS Monaco’s doctor Pascal Boileau has given the defender the green light to play.

In the past week there have been major worries regarding the state of Poland’s defensive situation going into the 2018 FIFA World Cup after Kamil Glik had reportedly injured himself last Monday.
On June 4, hours before Adam Nawalka was ready to release the names for his final tournament squad, the 30-year-old had injured himself during a practice session by attempting a bicycle kick and then landing awkwardly on his arm. The idea that he would quite possibly not play in Russia hit many fans hard when Nawalka revealed the bad news shortly after releasing his final squad to the press.
While the injury looked bad, Glik was still kept on the list for the national team medical staff to further analyze his injury and hope he could potentially recover in time to play. News of his injury was issued on Monday and a final decision on whether he would stay on the team list was to be made by Thursday. During that time, Marcin Kaminski, who originally was cut from Nawalka’s initial 32-man squad was kept on as a stand by for the AS Monaco centre-back.
Thursday passed and there was still no decision made. Instead, Glik was hasitly traveling from doctor to doctor in Europe while his teammates were training back in Poland. Nawalka, the PZPN (Polish Football Federation) and the fans all still had some faith that by a miracle their best defender would be able to recover in time.
A week passed, Poland took on Chile in a pre-tournament exhibition during the weekend and managed a 2:2 draw. However, while the Polish attack looked good, the defense raised plenty of alarms and questions; especially with Nawalka experimenting a formation with only 3 defenders.
Fortunately, on Monday, after being checked up by AS Monaco’s doctor Pascal Boileau, the Poland defender received the all clear to play in Russia – news that undoubtedly has given an entire nation a much needed sigh of relief.
